Surrendering

“Change is possible only when a person gives up the struggle to change.  Surrendering to that which we cannot be with, to that which is unacceptable to us, creates a freedom to be.  It is a relaxing into being.”

“Struggle or resistance to something creates an invisible tension. It creates conflict, and there is a push-pull of the psyche. When a person is able to let go of the desire to have something (or someone) be other than what it is, tension and conflict dissolve, and what is left is nothing – a space that carries within it a dynamic that is of a higher level of consciousness and awareness than a person’s logical and reasoning mind.  This dynamic will always lead a person toward what is best for them.”

“What is necessary to the action of surrendering, which entails letting go of struggle and resistance, is an awareness of this tension, and a sensing of it on more than one level, including being aware of where this tension is being held in the body.”

“What is crucial to becoming aware, or “self” conscious, is the willingness and ability to look deeply, without judgement, at what is actually going on with ourselves in any given moment. This is the act of paying attention without being attached to the outcome.”

New Web Site – Mindfulness

For some time now I have been working on upgrading my web site with the technical and artistic help of the great folks at Pixel Perfect Productions, and here it is!  Primarily, beyond style changes, I wanted to incorporate a major section under the heading of Mindfulness.  This area has been a dominant theme in my work  for many years, and I also believe  it is a direction that main stream psychology is finally beginning to head.   I also believe, however, that there are so many misunderstandings, misrepresentations and misinterpretations of this area that I felt I had to express my views to offer whatever value is contained in them, and hopefully, to stimulate some dialogue about it.  I welcome any opinions, criticisms or insights you wish to offer, and I hope that this area contributes in some way to the good of us all!
